Expert Arborist Reports Across Wentworth Falls & the Mid Mountains
Ward 2 extends through the Mid Mountains from Wentworth Falls through Bullaburra, Lawson, Hazelbrook, Woodford and adjoining areas toward Faulconbridge.
These villages sit along the Great Western Highway ridge while residential properties frequently extend toward heavily vegetated valleys and gullies. The resulting tree environment is dominated by mature native canopy, bushland interfaces and relatively constrained building sites.
Which Arborist Report Do You Need?
Bushland Lots, Gullies & Established Mountain Villages
Wentworth Falls contains established housing and tourism-oriented properties close to major bushland reserves and escarpment landscapes.
Lawson and Hazelbrook have large areas of residential development embedded within mature eucalypt canopy. Woodford, Linden and Bullaburra contain lower-density properties where native vegetation can occupy a substantial proportion of the site.
Development may need to accommodate large native trees, shallow sandstone soils, natural drainage, steep gullies, bushfire protection, driveway and access constraints, and retained vegetation close to proposed buildings.

Blue Mountains Council Tree Guidelines in Ward 2
Council's vegetation-preservation controls apply throughout Ward 2. A Council permit is generally needed to remove or prune a tree 4 metres or more in height and/or with a crown spread greater than 4 metres, any mallee-form Eucalyptus regardless of size, and natural or regenerating locally indigenous vegetation, including shrubs and groundcover.
The presence of bushfire-prone land does not itself create an unrestricted right to remove trees. Where 10/50 applies, clearing must comply with the current RFS Code. Development Consent conditions can also restrict clearing even where a property otherwise has a 10/50 entitlement.
Replacement planting: Council can require compensatory vegetation planting through its approval process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Retained native trees can influence building footprints, driveway access and construction methods on Lawson's bushland lots. Identifying Tree Protection Zones before the design is fixed is usually far cheaper than redesigning after lodgement.
No. 10/50 eligibility is property-specific and must be checked through the NSW RFS online tool before any clearing. Where it applies, trees within 10 metres of a home may be cleared without Council approval, subject to the 10/50 Code.
Yes. A Health & Safety Tree Assessment documents condition, defects, likelihood of failure and the people or property at risk. Arbor Express can use QTRA and, where needed, Resistograph testing to investigate internal decay.
Yes. Non-destructive root investigation shows where significant roots actually are in shallow sandstone soils, which can support design changes that allow a mature tree to be retained.
In most cases, yes. A Council permit is generally needed to remove or prune a tree 4 metres or more in height and/or with a crown spread greater than 4 metres, any mallee-form Eucalyptus regardless of size, and natural or regenerating locally indigenous vegetation, including shrubs and groundcover. Exemptions can apply, or the removal may be approved through a development consent. For standalone private-tree removal or pruning questions unrelated to development, Blue Mountains City Council's Trees and Vegetation on Private Land page sets out the current application process.
