Expert Arborist Reports Across Bronte, Tamarama & Waverley Ward
Waverley Ward includes Council precincts around Bronte, South Bondi/Tamarama and Bondi Heights, with Charing Cross sitting on the boundary with Lawson Ward. It combines established residential streets with some of Waverley's steepest coastal terrain.
Bronte and Tamarama contain highly constrained properties where pools, retaining walls, basement excavation and level changes can interact closely with trees. Inland Waverley and Bondi Heights areas contain mature residential canopy and heritage streetscapes.
Which Arborist Report Do You Need?
Coastal Slopes, Mature Trees & Constrained Residential Sites
Bronte and Tamarama are characterised by steep coastal terrain and limited development footprints. Excavation for basements, pools and retaining structures can materially affect roots even where tree trunks stand several metres from proposed works.
The Waverley and Bondi Heights areas contain more established urban streetscapes, where mature trees can influence additions, replacement dwellings and access works. Tamarama also contains remnants of coastal heath and environmentally sensitive coastal vegetation, adding a different local landscape context.

Waverley Council Tree Guidelines in Waverley Ward
The same Council tree controls apply throughout Waverley Ward. Trees 3 metres or more high, or with canopy spread of 3 metres or more, generally require a permit unless exempt.
For development sites, Waverley requires an AIA where moderate- or high-retention trees may be affected and requires protection of relevant adjoining trees in accordance with AS 4970-2025.
Replacement planting: approved private-tree removal requires an equivalent or larger mature-canopy replacement tree, minimum 45 L, planted within one month. Where there is insufficient on-site space, Council generally requires a minimum of three off-site trees for each tree removed. Development approvals also require replacement planting, with off-site offset planting where an advanced replacement tree cannot be accommodated on-site. Check current thresholds and exemptions on the Waverley Council tree requirements page.
