Expert Arborist Reports Across Liverpool South Ward
South Ward covers the part of Liverpool City south of Newbridge Road and Hoxton Park Road. It takes in the southern part of Liverpool itself, established areas around Casula, Lurnea, Moorebank, Wattle Grove and Holsworthy, and newer suburbs around Prestons, West Hoxton, Horningsea Park and Edmondson Park.
The ward runs from mature residential properties beside the Georges River to substantial newer housing along major road and rail corridors. That creates a different arboricultural environment from the rural and large-scale growth areas in North Ward.
Which Arborist Report Do You Need?
Liverpool City, River Suburbs & New Housing Growth
The southern part of Liverpool's city centre includes some of the LGA's most intensive redevelopment. Apartment and mixed-use sites are often constrained, so street trees and trees on adjoining land can shape basements, driveways and building footprints.
Casula and Lurnea contain established residential neighbourhoods with continuing redevelopment, and parts of Casula are influenced by the Georges River and its tributaries. Moorebank and Wattle Grove combine mature residential landscapes with major transport, industrial and employment infrastructure, while Holsworthy and Hammondville sit close to extensive bushland and Defence land.
Prestons, West Hoxton and Horningsea Park contain substantial residential and employment development. Edmondson Park has seen major new housing, rail infrastructure and subdivision, where retained and neighbouring trees still need assessment and protection.

Liverpool Council Tree Guidelines in South Ward
What counts as a protected tree: Council's Tree Management Policy defines a tree as any perennial plant with a height greater than 3.5 metres, a canopy spread greater than 4.0 metres, or a primary trunk diameter greater than 400 mm measured 1.0 metre above ground level. Pruning or removing a protected tree requires development consent or a Council permit unless an exemption applies.
Trees and development: where removal relates directly to proposed development, the affected trees should be addressed in the DA documentation. Retained trees may need Tree Protection Zones and a Tree Protection Plan during construction.
Replacement planting: where replacement planting is required through a tree permit or Development Consent, the number, species, size and location are set by the conditions applying to the individual property or development. Check current thresholds and exemptions on the Liverpool Council tree requirements page.

Usually, if the tree is over 3.5 metres high, has a canopy spread over 4 metres, or has a trunk diameter over 400 mm at 1 metre above ground. Exemptions apply, including certain exempt species. Where removal is connected to proposed development, it is generally assessed through the Development Application rather than a separate permit.
Yes. Roots, canopy and Tree Protection Zones can extend across property boundaries. Where a neighbour's tree sits close to a proposed dwelling, driveway or pool, the Arboricultural Impact Assessment should show how it will be protected, or what design changes are needed to retain it.
They can. Retained street trees, neighbouring trees and remnant vegetation on larger development sites may still need assessment and protection, even in a newly subdivided estate.
Yes. Residential, commercial and infrastructure-related sites can all involve retained-tree constraints. On larger employment and industrial sites, a Tree Survey early in design can identify which trees need to be worked around before the layout is fixed.
Yes. Where the Development Consent requires it, Arbor Express provides Tree Protection Plans, construction inspections, supervision of works within Tree Protection Zones and compliance reporting through to completion.
