Expert Arborist Reports Across Cammeraygal Ward
Cammeraygal Ward covers much of the southern and harbour-side part of the North Sydney LGA.
Representative areas include North Sydney, Kirribilli, Milsons Point, Lavender Bay, McMahons Point, Neutral Bay, Kurraba Point, Cremorne Point and southern parts of Cremorne. Because the ward boundary cuts through some suburbs, properties near the northern boundary should be checked against Council's current ward map.
Cammeraygal Ward contains some of the most constrained development sites in the LGA. It ranges from North Sydney's commercial towers and apartment projects to tightly developed harbour-side residential properties around Kirribilli, Neutral Bay and Cremorne Point.
Which Arborist Report Do You Need?
High-Density Development, Harbour Slopes & Constrained Sites
North Sydney CBD has major commercial, residential and infrastructure development. Deep basements, excavation near boundaries, tower construction, crane access and underground services can all interact with trees on private or public land.
Kirribilli, Lavender Bay and McMahons Point contain steep harbour-side properties where relatively small building footprints can sit close to mature trees. Neutral Bay, Kurraba Point and Cremorne Point combine apartments, established houses, retaining walls and mature private gardens. On these sites, trees outside the property can be just as relevant as trees standing within it.

North Sydney Council Tree Guidelines in Cammeraygal Ward
North Sydney's City-wide Tree & Vegetation Management controls apply throughout Cammeraygal Ward. A Tree Management Permit or Development Consent is generally required for protected trees exceeding the current height, crown-width or trunk-circumference thresholds.
For development, an AQF Level 5 Arborist Report is required where works occur within 5 metres of a tree. That requirement is particularly important on constrained harbour-side sites where neighbouring trees can sit very close to proposed excavation.
Replacement planting: Council determines replacement requirements according to the site and approval. Replacement canopy trees may be required on-site or, where adequate space is unavailable, Council can require public-land planting or an appropriate contribution.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Relevant public trees must be included in development arboricultural assessment.
Yes. North Sydney requires relevant trees on adjoining land within 5 metres of the site boundary to be considered. On tight Neutral Bay lots, a neighbour's tree can shape where footings, basements or services can go, so the Arboricultural Impact Assessment should show how it will be protected.
Yes. North Sydney specifically recognises non-destructive Root Mapping Reports where root location is uncertain.
Yes. Council requires proposed removal to be justified as part of the development impact assessment.
Yes. Critical-stage supervision and certification can form part of Council's development conditions.
Often. A Tree Management Permit or Development Consent is generally required for a tree taller than 5 metres, with a crown wider than 5 metres, or with a trunk circumference over 500 mm at ground level, and for any tree on public land, unless an exemption applies. For standalone private-tree removal or pruning questions unrelated to development, North Sydney Council's Trees on private land page sets out the current application process.
