Eastern Sydney Arborist Reports

Need an Arborist Report for a Development Application, tree removal application or Health & Safety assessment in Eastern Sydney?

Eastern Sydney's coastal suburbs combine heritage conservation areas, tightly constrained blocks, significant tree canopy and ongoing coastal redevelopment, a combination that means tree assessment is rarely a standalone exercise here. It's usually assessed alongside excavation, heritage impact and boundary-to-boundary construction.

Why Eastern Sydney Is Different

Eastern Sydney's three council areas share established, land-constrained coastal suburbs — the report your project needs depends on which pressure applies to your site.

Heritage

Waverley and Woollahra carry significant heritage streetscapes, where tree removal and pruning often require Council approval separate from any Development Application.

earth digger

Coastal Redevelopment

Randwick's beachside suburbs combine heritage conservation areas with coastal properties, where protected trees are commonly assessed for both DA support and standalone removal permits.

Constrained Building Sites

Across all three councils, narrow lots, party walls and basement excavation make Tree Protection Zone and Structural Root Zone assessment a more frequent requirement than in less densely built parts of Sydney.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which council covers my suburb?

If you're unsure which local council governs your property, contact Arbor Express with your address and we'll confirm the correct council area and advise which arborist report is typically required before preparing your quotation.

What Arborist Report do I need?

It depends on what you're trying to achieve, a DA Arborist Report supports a Development Application, a Health & Safety Tree Assessment addresses a declining or hazardous tree, and a Tree Removal Report supports a standalone permit application. We can confirm which applies once we understand your project.

Can one report be used for both a DA and a tree removal application?

Often, yes. A DA Arborist Report can generally address tree removal where the removal is directly related to the proposed works, though a standalone Tree Removal Report is usually more appropriate where removal isn't tied to a Development Application.

How does heritage listing affect tree removal in Eastern Sydney?

Trees on heritage-listed properties or within a heritage conservation area, common across all three Eastern Sydney council areas, may require additional approval even where the tree would otherwise be exempt by size, because the tree can be assessed as contributing to the site's heritage or streetscape significance.

Do you inspect the site before preparing the report?

Yes. Every report is based on an on-site inspection of the tree or trees in question, we don't prepare reports from photographs or descriptions alone.

Do you prepare reports for builders, architects and developers?

Yes. We prepare DA Arborist Reports at design stage, Tree Protection Plans post-approval and Project Arborist inspections through construction for residential and commercial projects across Eastern Sydney.
